Question from: Jared
Mar 12 2011 | Q:  Dear Peggy McCay: I always look forward to an episode where you appear! Caroline has always been one of my favorite characters, and I wish we could see Victor falling in love with Caroline again, or Caroline fighting for Victor's affections! Caroline changing the paternity test felt so out of character, and I wanted to see her regret it more, or at least have more screentime. Thanks for continuing to play this wonderful character. You're a major reason why I still watch the show! |
| A:  Dear Jared, Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to me that you appreciate my acting. I, too, wish Victor and Caroline were more involved with each other. Talk about unrequited love! Thank you for taking the time to write to me. Love, Peggy McCay |

i just wanted to express my thoughts to you at the passing of Paul Picerni. i remember the two of you fondly from THE YOUNG MARRIEDS, one of the earliest soaps i watched.
i enjoy your work very much. |
| A:  Dear Greg, I am saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Picerni. I so enjoyed working with him. I know he loved his family very much. "THE Young Marrieds" was a fine show. It was taken off the air because the network preferred to originate a show in New York, instead of Los Angeles. The writers, producer and cast were excellent. I am happy you got to see it and liked it. Thank you for your kind words about my work. I wish you all the best. Cordially, Peggy McCay |

Thanks again to you and the cast...and by the way, what a great job by the young boy who plays Johnny as well! Well thank you again and I keep looking forward to the next days! |
| A:  Dear James, I'm delighted to know how much you enjoy "Days". I did start on the show in 1986. However, I left after three days, as they offered me no contract and although I attended the wedding of my son, Roman and Marlena, I had no lines. Four years later, and three other Carolyn Bradys later, the show called me and told me there was a great storyline for me (the return of Victor, who wanted to take Caroline away with him.) and a contract. That was in 1990. Happily, I've been on the show. Ever since. I appreciate your enthusiasm with the storylines with Victor and Maggie and that incredible little boy, Johnny. Thank you so much for writing to me. You've made my day. Cordially, Peggy McCay (also, in 1991, the show allowed me to work primetime I won a primetime Emmy in 1991. Just a little more info.) |

Question from: April Fox
Nov 03 2010 | Q:  Hi Peggy,
Are you by chance related to Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou in Andy Griffith Show)? I thought you looked like you could be her sister. Please let me know and thank you for your time. |
| A:  Dear April, What what is going on? Yours is the third letter I received this week asking if I'm related to Betty Lynn. I played Andy Griffith's high school sweetheart on his show. It turned out to be the most popular show of the series. I still receive requests for photos and autographs from that show. I played Sharon de Spain, but Andy's high school sweetheart, and we had a pretty sexy scene. Betty Lynn appeared fairly regularly on the Andy Griffith show and we do have a very close resemblance. We met and realized that often we were mistaken for one another. The main difference being that Betty has red hair and freckles. I do not. Anyway, I'm surprised that so many people in the same week asked the same question. I appreciate your writing and thank you. Peggy McCay |

Question from: Dianne
Sep 19 2010 | Q:  Dear Peggy, I love watching you on Days of our Lives. How Long have you been playing the part of Caroline? Um Does Caroline miss Shawn? |
| A:  Dear Dianne, I am so glad you like my work as Caroline on "Days". As for the number of years it's a little complicated. I started at the marriage of Roman and Marlena, as his mother-in-law. Since there was little to the role, and no contract, I let after three days. I think, in 1989, I rejoined the show at the time that Victor Kiriakis return to Salem to marry Caroline. I was fired for two years. I was killed by a serial killer, but arose from the dead. All in all, I think it's 18 years. As for missing Shawn of course. However, Victor is the love of her life. Thanks so much for writing in. Happy 2011. Peggy McCay |

Question from: Dawn Gibson
Apr 30 2010 | Q:  I, too, had you confused with Betty Lynn--was certain that it was she who had played Vanessa on L of L and Sharon in the Class Reunion show. I even googled to prove myself correct. Boy was I in for a surprise! On L of L you played Vanessa and I remember that you had a "sister" named Meg. I remember Don Knotts playing Wilbur Peterson from the Egg Farm on Search for Tomorrow. I'm glad to get this square in my brain now. Thanks. One of our many Mayberry memorbilia books actually had Betty Lynn listed as playing the Sharon DeSpain part. Whoever wrote that one must have been so certain that he (or she) didn't bother to check. Dawn Gibson |
| A:  Dear Dawn, I'm glad to hear back from you. So now you know that Peggy McCay is not Betty Lynn. Or vice versa. Thanks for writing back. Happy 2011. Peggy McCay |
